Event Date: March 7, 2022
Deadline to Submit Abstracts and Fellowships: January 21, 2022
With an aging population worldwide, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s are on the rise. Today more than 7 million individuals in the US alone are affected by neurodegeneration. However, the current options to treat neurodegenerative brain diseases are still very limited. Therefore, the need to identify new therapeutic avenues is very urgent.
Proteostasis biology provides a promising new direction for such novel therapeutic avenues. The understanding of the biological processes underlying proteostasis has advanced considerably within the last decade, notably with the 2016 Nobel Prize in Medicine awarded for work on autophagy.
This symposium will bring together experts in proteostasis biology and neurodegenerative disease, along with clinicians, drug developers, and investors to consider how to apply the emerging science of proteostasis to deliver transformational therapies for neurodegenerative disease.
